Sacred Text, 2012
Sacred Text is a body of work exploring and comparing the power and importance of fairy tales with that of traditional religious reliquaries. Through altered books, original and first translations of the Grimm brothers’ tales are brought to life and treated as factual and venerated events. “Relics” of these stories are encased in these adorned book-reliquaries, similarly to relics of religious idols and events. The purpose of the work is to bring forward the importance of these classic stories in our own lives as more than their contemporary portrayal in entertainment.
